    A year and a half ago, we launched the Be Internet Awesome program to help kids be safe, confident explorers of the online world. We built a little something for everyone: a curriculum for teachers, resources for parents and an adventure-packed online game for kids.

    Texas PTA first became involved in the work to reduce bullying in 2011, when we worked with legislators to pass a law strengthening guidelines for dealing with bullying in the schools. At that time, cell phones were still scarce in the schools, and administrators were reluctant to support laws that required schools to confront cyberbullying, but we saw where things were heading.

    A graduating senior at Wagner High School became the latest recipient of a scholarship named after David Molak. The David Molak Kindness Scholarship was awarded to Wagner senior Peter Fernandez. Peter was nominated for the $1,000 scholarship by one of his teachers for demonstrating patience and kindness to his classmates.   • Most people seem to hate the new Gillette ad, even in San Antonio

    By Wednesday afternoon, the clip had more than 13 million YouTube views with 318,000 likes and 721,000 dislikes, with many condemning the Gillette ad as condescending with a message they say demonizes and feminizes men. Some even are swearing off the brand and its owner, Procter & Gamble, for competitors such as the subscription razor service, Dollar Shave Club.

    This holiday season, a special message will be playing on the radio to reach out to those suffering. The David’s Legacy Foundation is teaming up with others to prevent suicide and depression. Producing music is something Mac Damon has been doing for years but recently a special cause has taken over his recording studio.

    San Antonio Papa John’s are partnering with David’s Legacy Foundation to fight cyberbullying. The San Antonio locations will donate 29 percent of Wednesday’s sales. A new school year marks an opportunity for new friends, new classes, and some new schools. While it’s exciting for many, it marks the start of bullying for some.
