About David’s Legacy

David’s Legacy Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to eliminating cyber and other bullying, of children and teens, through education, legislation, and legal action. We encourage digital empathy and self-care and celebrate students who promote kindness and inclusion. Our mission Includes:

  • Protecting children and teens from all types of bullying
  • Educating communities about the harmful effects of cyber abuse
  • Advocating for families in crisis, facilitating legal assistance through pro bono lawyers
  • Celebrating student-driven anti-bullying and kindness initiatives
  • Empowering young people to practice digital empathy and self-care

We achieve this by focusing our efforts in three main areas – education, legislation, and legal action. These pillars drive our mission to end cyberbullying.

Education

Education is key to increasing awareness of the problem of bullying in this modern world of technology and social media.  We believe that this is a community issue that requires parents, students, educators, business leaders, and legal experts to come together in partnership to address this issue. Although we all play a part in prevention, the core of the solution lies in our youth because who better to drive change than those who are living in it on a day to day basis.  Their voices are powerful!

Legislation

Legislation is a necessary component of our mission, providing the framework to address the problem.  David’s Legacy focuses on how we can help influence and pass legislation that can be leveraged to help victims bring an end to the vicious cycle of bullying. Legal remedies help many victims. However, the laws must keep up with the rapid pace with ever-changing technology.  David’s Legacy continues to advocate for new laws that protect our children from bullying and promote mental health.

Legal Action

Legal action may be an option if you are a victim of bullying.  But first, you need to understand your rights and the resources available to you.  Our Don’t Bully Me (DBM) Project’s goal is to bridge the gap between those who are targets of bullying/their families and the civil legal system that, in many cases, can end severe bullying.  The DBM Project is entirely made up of volunteer attorneys who donate their time to assist in situations when minors are involved in serious incidents of bullying.
